After 37 remarkable years with Maylands Tennis Club, we farewelled one of our most loved members, Valdek, in a celebration that was as heartfelt as it was bittersweet.
Across nearly four decades on our courts, Valdek built a legacy few will match — earning multiple MVP honours, claiming the Mixed Doubles Championship, and winning pennants in Divisions 4, 3 and 2, as well as proudly representing the club in Division 1. Off the court, he served as Captain of Social Tennis and gave generously of his time on the committee, helping shape the welcoming culture our members enjoy today.
Valdek now returns to Poland with his wife Barbara and their faithful dog by his side. We thank him for the friendships, the laughs, the fierce volleys and the quiet leadership he brought to every season. The club and all its members wish Valdek and Barbara the very best for this next chapter — you will be deeply missed, and you will always be part of the Maylands Tennis Club family.
